Honors past, present, and new members of the PIL Hall of Fame for their accomplishments and contributions to the PIL, with a recognition dinner of 500-600 people.
The Portland Interscholastic League (PIL) Hall of Fame will hold its 2007 Induction Banquet at the Holiday Inn Airport (NE 84th and Columbia Blvd.), Sunday, October 14, beginning at 6 p.m. with 59 new inductees being honored at the annual ceremony.
It marks the fourth year of the revival of the enhanced PIL Hall of Fame Induction Banquet, and this year's affair is another sellout.
The 2007 year's class of 56 athletes and three coaches raises the membership in the PIL Hall of Fame to 355. Eight of the athletes are deceased, and a vast majority of the other honorees will be in attendance to be feted by their many friends, family, former competitors and students.
Candidates are selected each year by a committee that consists of two voting representatives from each of the PIL's 10 current high schools, plus Adams, Jackson and Washington/Monroe.
