Marjorie Patterson

Patterson, Marjorie Dorothy 88 07/10/1921 03/10/2010 Marjorie passed away in comfort and peace March 10, 2010, at Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital from advanced lung disease (emphysema).   Family surrounded her during her brief hospital stay and in the final moments of her life.

Marjorie was born July 10, 1921, in Vancouver, to Dora and Fred Pugh. She and her brother, Jack, spent their youth in Warrenton. Marjorie attended Washington High School in Portland. Marjorie married William James "Pat" Patterson and they had three children, Donna, Steve and Janice.

She was a first class homemaker for her husband and children. She belonged to the Eastern Star when it was on Northeast 80th Avenue and Glisan Street and Pat was a Mason, past master. They both went through the officers chairs for their organizations. When her husband died in 1964, she had to go to work outside the home for the first time in her life.

Marjorie worked admirably for Fred Meyer for 22 years in the deli section where she became the manager. While working, she continued to keep her home spotless, her yard the best in the neighborhood and raised her youngest child, Janice.

She retired at age 65. Her next vocation was working as a volunteer for Kaiser Permanente on Interstate Avenue from 1993 to 2009. She was there every Wednesday for 8 hours at their candy cart. In more recent years she needed to reduce the hours to 4.

She is survived by her brothers, Jack Pugh, Gerald Norris and Allen Pulley; children, Donna Larson, Steve Patterson and Janice Patterson; grandchildren, Patrick and Chris Patterson; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Brianna, Nathaniel, Madelynn, Danielle and Aaron; and great-great-grandchild, Wyatt.
